So many people have said to me “Hey David, your SplashMaps are brilliant, but, with your bespoke maps you’re never going to find one map that fits the bill for everyone. Why put in so much effort to get to your market? Why don’t you try and make a Map for Everyone?”
So what would this look like? My experience has shown that a map for anyone would cost <£3 possibly be a tea-towel (to capture the suppressed millions who don’t have the opportunity to dry their dishes on Azerbaijan) and cover a as big an area as possible… preferably the whole world!
Lateral thinker that I am, I had begun to mentally prototype around a sponge globe of the world! You could wash your car, or adsorb water off your dishes. The number of uses! And with the whole world surely everyone would be clamoring.
Thankfully, just before I launched “Adsorboglobes”, I was contacted by Stray Taoist who wanted a Wil Tirion map of the Northern Hemisphere Star Constellations. How much better to make a map of something we all have in common? The Sky!
And the best thing? Despite the amazing amount of detail (literally EVERYTHING you’d see in the sky at night) our new print process made a super clear silk-like map on our brand new lighter-weight material.
Love the idea? Why don’t you challenge us with your bespoke map ideas. Pretty-much, if it can be printed on paper, it can be printed as a SplashMap.
