The family SplashMaps took part in our first Treasure Trails this weekend.
We’re great fans of Geocaching and often get quite competitive over the outcomes. But the Treasure Trails phenomenon was new to us and was recommended by friends we made in Trent Park earlier this month.
The website allows a search for your local treasure trail. In our case, whilst visiting my roots, this was around the genteel town of Great Missenden. The local treasure hunt was a murder mystery and involved clues gathered from gravestones, shop signs and even missing houses! The imaginative challenge was created by the local C of E school and brought us in-touch with the towns war-dead, their famous authors and a brief stop at the local coffee shop.
Treasure Trails is pretty successful with most of the country covered. It’s funded on the sale of their treasure maps at £6.99 and you can even get yours personalised for just a little more to make a great keep-sake. Setting one up is easy and will get the kids out of the house and makes a great activity to enjoy with visitors.
