Our latest customer: The National Trust
SplashMaps is over-the-moon that the National Trust is our latest customer!
It’s not all about fabulous old buildings with the Trust, but the environment they sit in too! Most of these amazing places are in the contexts of amazing spaces.
But then there’s amazing spaces with no beautifully maintained historical buildings at their heart. And these are the real stopping-off places for outdoor adventure.
National Trust at Knoll Beach
One such is Knoll Beach in Studland on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset.
In case you weren’t aware of this place, its status as an Island is underlined by the chain ferry needed to travel across a short strech of Poole Harbour from Bournemouth to Studland.
The National Trust centre at Knoll is a cosy discovery nestled between the white cliff faces that extend westward to Old Harry rocks and the miles of yellow/ brown sand sweeping to the eatern distance backed by moran grass and dunes.
A hot coffee by their see-through stove
This time of year the sea is still home to the hardy enthusiasts with kite surfs, but the treasure is in the visitor centre where a hot coffee by their see-through stove will revitalise anyone.
Peter Maidment, manager of the NT’s retail on the beach, told me that the NT is looking to support their outdoors orientated visitors; making outdoors gear available to buy from their stores.
SplashMaps is a great way to start, and the stock there includes our Isle of Purbeck SplashMaps and their bespoke designed 1:25k Toob of Studland.
In-house displays
Peter responded to my email sent to all retailers of ours in October, offering to help develop their in-house displays.
When I left we’d agreed alterations to the packaging, provided a manakin head specified to show-off the best features of the map and I provided a crash-course in re-packaging (customers can’t keep their mits off!).
A new retailer!
I followed up by enlisting a new retailer while in Swanage. So welcome to Jurassic Outdoor!
It’s a brilliantly positioned and stocked outdoors shop on the high street. Pip, the owner, settled on a unique Toob design of The Purbeck Isle in 1:25k Ordnance Survey Style which she titled with the business motto, “Go your own way”. In addition our New Forest and standard Isle of Purbeck maps will be on sale in time for Christmas!
