The fabulously well organised Winchester Cycle Fest today celebrated all that is bike! Anyone who cycles on the roads or across the South Downs has to benefit from the great cycle way link using the re-vitalised Hockley viaduct. It was so good to meet some of the people at Sustrans, Hampshire CC and CTC who worked together to make this possible.
The Police were showing off thier new bikes, including the latest in Penny-farthing technology (was this guy for real?):-
But most people had the summer vacation in mind… despite the weather! Most could find somewhere they’d like to go… and some wrapped themselves in their favourite National Parks at the SplashMaps Stand.
And it’s hats-off to our NewForce MTB club friends who helped in the design of our maps! Looking forward to riding with them again on Tuesday (Queen Inn start?). We distributed a lot of leaflets for them, and hope to get a great set of rides in this week!
We’re planning to be back here for the 11th August when there’s more free-fun for families on bikes in Winchester!
